LIZA BARSEGA is a sculptor whose practice unfolds between Berlin and Ibiza. At the heart of Barsega’s work is an intimate dialogue with the earth itself. Her sculptures and paintings emerge from a direct relationship with the soils of Ibiza, where she wild-harvests red earths from the island’s shores and transforms them into pigments. These pigments become the living colors that inhabit the surfaces of her intuitive sculptural forms and paintings.

Balancing material authenticity with an ever-evolving poetic inquiry, Barsega creates works that function as contemporary totems - forms that honor the elemental nature of the materials from which they are born. Through clay, earth, and pigment, her practice explores memory, transformation, and the silent intelligence embedded within the landscape.

After more than a decade dedicated to working with clay, she founded Barsega Studio Gallery in Berlin in 2022 - an interdisciplinary space devoted to ceramic sculpture, education, and the revival of ancestral techniques of working with clay and natural pigments. Since 2025, she has been based in Ibiza, where she continues to curate and develop the studio’s vision from her home immersed in the island’s landscape.
